(A summery of Nikki’s speech which was unscripted)

Ladies and gentlemen, I must confess to conflicting emotions this evening; While I’m happy to be here seeing you all again, meeting new people - I’m angry! Angry that I as a British Citizen I need to be here at all seeking election to the European Parliament in order to reclaim our sovereignty and our liberty. Sovereignty and liberties our nation has fought for not only for ourselves but for other nations.
Nikki Sinclaire MEP?

L-R Mike Nattrass, Malcolm Hurst, Nikki Sinclaire, Jonathan Oakton and Jill Seymour

Text Box: The EU has stripped us of our sovereignty and increasingly our way of life - only UKIP has stood up to the EU. But we all know that here and I’m not going to preach to the converted—I am going to tell you about me and what I plan to do as a candidate/MEP.

I have been involved with UKIP since 1994 at the EU elections when we didn’t send MEP’s to Brussels and we had no money. We were laughed at and ridiculed for campaigning for the UK to leave the EU. At the time only 9% of the population believed that we should leave. I think it is a great credit to UKIP and the Referendum Party that the majority of the population wish to leave the EU. I have held many offices in UKIP including being on the NEC and being Party Secretary I have also helped abroad including helping in the Danish referendum in 2000 and more recently in Ireland. This was a great victory, but what I found to be encouraging was that I was not only campaigning with Irish people but French, Danish, Norwegian, Swedish and German etc all fighting together for sovereignty and against the EU.

I am a proponent of street campaigns and have found these very useful and have got lots of media attention. Last week on Post Offices and previously on the constitution. I have also organised a coach to London to protest and lobby on the Lisbon Treaty—again making the press and getting colleagues interviewed by News 24 outside Downing Street. As an assistant to Mike I have visited many schools and took part in mock elections and debates all proved to be very successful. As an MEP I would continue with this.

I would increase visibility by having my office in the city/town centres - moving around in the five year term. I would put a huge LCD sign in the window showing how much money we are giving the EU. I would also instigate a mobile office again to campaign and increase visibility. I believe that the Internet must be used more and Mike and I are looking into the possibility of a Internet UKIP radio station. I would also use all my allowances to the best benefit of UKIP. In the next parliament rules are changing. At the moment you can walk there sleep in your office and get paid a fortune. In the next parliament, MEPs will only be reimbursed upon receipts. I will travel there by Easyjet and stay in 2* hotels costing a total of about £200 and then expose the Lib Lab Con MEPs claiming back £thousands from their first class flights and 5* hotels.

Lastly, I wish to thank you for coming and showing this commitment in attending tonight. Just selecting a candidate is not enough—I want you to join me in campaigning wherever I am selected on the list because it is our country that matters and every leaflet we give out and every person we speak to we are doing on behalf of our country. I believe UKIP is the best vehicle for our country to withdraw from the EU. Thank You.

Dear Miss Sinclair, May I say I was very impressed with your talk on Monday night at Powick in Worc's. I judged each of the members on the night out of ten, and to me you came top, it was nice to hear someone with fight and drive. As a member myself of UKIP I thought we need more people with your determination and drive to spearhead  the drive within Europe and to keep members fully informed. You have my vote.

…..at the very least she has been a loyal party servant.

personally I think she would be a hard working MEP who would manage to be quite 'newsworthy'

Nikki's biggest plus is that she is an achiever, and wins the fights she picks….

I think she would make an ideal MEP - hardworking, committed, thoughtful, good debater...

Could not agree more. Nikki is shrewd hardworking and will not stand for nonsense from the leadership-just the robust independent type that is wanted.

I was very impressed by you at the recent hustings. Your grasp of the issues was impressive and your vision of what UKIP must do was both credible and inspirational. We need more people like you! You have my vote and best wishes.
